Hello All, Yea Me too.....

In September I was diagnosed with stage 3 Colon Cancer in my Sigmoid Colon. Well They cut out 15 inches of my colon 3 days later. After two weeks I developed a massive infection and had to stay in the hospital to get IV anti biotics. It's now 3 months later and I'm just starting to get my head above water. I was unemployed at the time, but fortunately a veteran. I was able to get the VA to take me in and perform all of the tests and surgery. I still can't do half of what I could before physically, but I can drive again now that I'm off of the pain medication. Being limited to lifting 8 Lbs. does make shopping and living stressfull. Any more like me out there? I'd love to talk.

My pain goes out to you, and anyone effected by cancer. I lost my mother to cancer about 4 years ago and lost my father to cancer a little less than two months ago.
If I had any advice to give, it would be to keep strong. I know that may be difficult in times such as this, but the only thing cancer cannot eat is your dignity.
Though my knowledge of cancer is only second hand, if ever you need to talk, vent, or whatever, feel free.

    Alan,
I marked my recovery with little victories (i.e. hooray! I was able to tie my own shoes today!) and much of it now seems like a dream. I had the same surgery as you (transverse colon, though) and it did take a while to get back to 100%, but I got there. And so will you.
I am here if you need to connect!
